Carly Oboth brings rich experience to the coalition from consulting work and a history of engagement with PWYP-US member organizations on extractives transparency and governance issues. Carly joined PWYP-US as staff/director in 2021 with considerable expertise in oil, gas and mining policy advocacy and strategy development, skills she honed in part while at Global Witness.
During her time with Global Witness, she led dynamic advocacy campaigns to support the implementation of the conflict minerals transparency law in the US, Section 1502 of the Dodd-Frank Act. She co-authored a seminal report, Digging for Transparency, which analyzed the first conflict minerals reports filed with the SEC.
Carly has also spent time researching gold supply chains and investigating the trade in illicit gold in Latin America. She has been routinely quoted as an expert on supply chain due diligence and responsible mineral sourcing.
