Publish What You Pay United States engages in a multi-faceted approach to promoting transparency in the extractive industries.  We engage with various stakeholders, including companies, host and home governments, and international financial institutions to ensure a comprehensive and complementary system of transparency.  PWYP US also works with international bodies such as the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative and the International Accounting Standards Board.

We promote the transparency of extractive industry contracts, revenue payments and receipts, as well as government's budgets.  If all these were disclosed, people living in resource-rich countries would have the information they need to demand their fair share.  

In 2008, the PWYP US coalition will be focused on urging Congress to pass a stock market listing requirement which would require oil, gas and mining companies listed in the United States to publish their natural resource revenue payments and will be a tremendous step toward creating a global standard for disclosure.
